Welcome To Church Street Surgery, Kidderminster
Important information about the coronavirus (COVID-19)
The NHS across Worcestershire and Herefordshire will be better prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases, if the public follows Public Health England advice.
The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff which may mean your patient experience is subject to change.
The Chief Medical Officer announced on Friday 13 March that the country is moving into the ‘Delay’ stage of the response to coronavirus (Covid-19).
The new advice issued by the Chief Medical Officer is to stay at home for 7 days if you have either:
- a high temperature or
- a new continuous cough
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or a hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.
Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:
- you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
- your condition gets worse
- your symptoms do not get better after 7 days
Only call 111 if you cannot get help online.
Stay At Home advice can be found here.
Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:
- Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.
Information remains subject to regular change and updates. More information can be found on the NHS website here.

New Telephone System
The Wyre Forest Health Partnership has changed its telephone system. Whilst there will be no change to the telephone number that you need to contact, you will now hear an options message once your call is connected. The new system will help us to ensure that you speak to the appropriate person as quickly as possible. Please note: calls to and from the Surgery are recorded for training and monitoring purposes and in the event that the Surgery needs to contact a patient via telephone, the surgery number will be withheld. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the changes, please do not hesitate to contact us.
In addition to the practice’s normal opening hours, and additional surgery opening times as stated above, you can also book an appointment to see a local clinician in the evenings or at the weekend in Kidderminster.
GP practices are working together to provide extended access appointments to our patients. This means that your extended access appointment may be with a different GP, nurse or based in a different location or practice than you are used to, and some of these appointments are telephone only.
These appointments are pre-bookable by contacting the surgery during our opening times – our receptionists will help you to find a convenient appointment.
Do you need to see a doctor?? If so you will need to speak to reception or book online to arrange a phone call with a GP who will phone you back to discuss the problem and if necessary arrange a face to face appointment.
You should phone us ON THE DAY that you wish to be seen rather than having to plan ahead like you do now. This will allow us to see you sooner and reduce the waiting times to contact a GP.
What are the benefits?
Quicker access to a GP
Decision for appointment will be between the patient and GP
You will have a booked telephone consultation with the GP in a specific time slot
No wasted journeys to the surgery when you don’t need to come in
Fairer system for all patients
There will be no change to the booking of nurse appointments
If there is a medical reason you are unable to use a phone, please tell reception
We have launched our new online services which allow you to...
- Order Repeat Prescription
- Book Doctors Appointments
- Update your address and telephone number
